For Immediate Release For More Information, Contact: Bryan Rudnick, Media Relations Coordinator at 561-499-3201 DEAN REMARK REFLECTS DEMOCRATS’ COMTEMPT FOR CHRISTIANS Don Feder, president of Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation, said DNC Chairman Howard Dean’s comment that the GOP is a "white Christian party," is typical of liberal contempt for conservative Christians. Speaking at an event in San Francisco , the man who insiders considered too liberal for the Democratic nomination last year (but not too liberal to lead their party this year), said the GOP is "a pretty monolithic party. They behave the same. They look the same. It’s pretty much a white Christian party," Dean declared. The governor could have added, but really didn’t need to, "And we don’t like those people ." Said Feder, "Of course, the observation is a grotesque distortion of reality. Unless, Dr. Dean is vision-impaired, even he can see that Secretary of State Condeleza Rice, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and GOP Party Chairman Ken Mehlman look nothing like Dick Cheney. Dean is dealing in stereotypes - and stupid stereotypes at that." Trying to explain his latest attempt to swallow his own foot, Dean divulged during an NBC interview, that Republicans "have the agenda of the conservative Christians." "And what’s wrong with that?" Feder asked. "The agenda of the so-called religious right - opposition to abortion and homosexual marriage, and support for parental rights and public display of religious symbols - happens to be the agenda of Middle America - as the popular vote demonstrates. By embracing this agenda, Republicans won 7 of the past 10 presidential elections." Feder added, "Democrats are addicted to the myth that the GOP has been hijacked by conservative Christians. In reality, it’s the party of McGovern, Mondale and Kennedy that’s been subverted -- by radical feminists, homosexual activists, abortion crusaders and ACLU true-believers." "The only way the Democratic Party could possibly have the face of America is if San Francisco, Manhattan and Provincetown, Mass. were Main Street, USA ," Feder concluded. |
